The status of any university in the world is determined by several indicators, among which the most important are the ones related to the number and forcefulness of the scientific publications of its employees, presence of rated scientific publications. In Ukraine, it is obligatorily taken into account when the university gives or confirms its status as national, when defining the amount of state financing, when giving the grants, etc. That’s why recently the leading university of the country – Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – performs the complex of measures concerning the expansion of the work in the mentioned direction. To this end, a year ago there began the cooperation with the company that for a long time deals professionally with scientific journals publishing – with LLC CPC “Business Perspectives”.

"Business Perspectives" continues cooperating with Professor Jozef Haber

A regular meeting of the company founders with Jozef Haber was held. It took place in an informal setting. Jozef Antoni Haber is an expert on Global Economics, an Honorary Professor of the Jean Monnet Project (the EU), an Honorary Professor of the Ukrainian Academy of Banking and an Honorary Professor and Doctor of Science Honoris Causa of the University of Banking; Poznań School of Banking – Faculty in Chorzów, Poland. We discussed further directions for the development of journals with which our colleague works as a member of editorial boards and a reviewer. Particular attention was devoted to changes in the legislation of Poland dealing with publishing activity of lecturers and scientists.

Participation in the conference "Scientific Communication in the Digital Age" – March 28-29, 2019, the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Kyiv, Ukraine

Liudmyla Ostapenko, Ph.D., the "Business Perspectives" company CEO, and Serhiy Kozmenko, Professor, the co-founder of "Business Perspectives" took part in the conference. Serhiy Kozmenko contributed to the conference with a lecture on "The phenomenon and methodology of the monopolists of scientometrics (evidence from Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection)". He said that for Ukrainian scientists, the presence of their articles in journals indexed in leading citation systems is a prerequisite for career development. It is necessary for obtaining a scientific degree, academic rank, registration of a contract, etc. The presence of a large number of such articles and journals provides the necessary positions of the university (scientific institution) in various ratings. All this is enshrined in normative documents and legislative acts. But why did it happen that two bases with their products (Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection) actually conquered the whole scientific world? Are these bases methodologically impeccable, the procedures are transparent, and their content is qualitative?
