Special Issue "Ukrainian Universities in New Realities: 10 Years of War"
We live in a time when universities in Ukraine continue to operate amidst the extraordinary challenges of a war that has lasted for 10 years, with the past 2.5 years being a full-scale invasion. The war has impacted every university: many universities have been relocated, some even twice. Each of us has our unique experience of survival, adaptation, and resilience in these new realities.
Therefore, we are pleased to announce a special issue titled "Ukrainian Universities in New Realities: 10 Years of War," which will focus on the management, sustainability, and resilience of universities during the ongoing war.
Guest Editors:
- Yuriy Danko — Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities at Sumy National Agrarian University, Doctor of Economics, Professor. Yuriy represents a frontline university that has suffered damage from shelling multiple times and has faced significant challenges due to its geographical location.
- Yana Sychikova — Vice-Rector for Scientific Work at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. Yana represents a university that was relocated due to the occupation of Berdyansk and has been operating as a "University without Walls" for the past 2.5 years.
Each university in Ukraine has its own story of overcoming the devastating consequences of this war.
We invite the academic community to share their experiences on the pages of this special issue by presenting their research on the challenges and solutions university managers face in these challenging times.
We also call for a broader discussion on topics such as migration processes, universities' third mission, internationalization strategies, adaptation of higher education to new realities, digital transformation, psychosocial support for the academic community, and more. Although topics are not strictly limited, they should clearly align with the focus of this special issue.
