Risk indicators and related aspects in insurance companies in Palestine
Insurance Markets and Companies Volume 12, 2021 Issue #1 pp. 43-50
Views: 552 Downloads: 214 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯThe purpose of this paper is to identify the impact of risk indicators of insurance companies listed on the Palestine Stock Exchange on earnings per share over the period 2010–2017. The sample consists of seven insurance companies listed on the Palestine Stock Exchange. The data was analyzed using the OLS regression technique. This helps to determine the relationship between the independent variable (earnings per share) and the dependent variables (liquidity risk, capital risk, rate of risky assets). The results show that the liquidity risk has a positive impact on earnings per share, while capital risk and rate of risky assets have a negative impact. This means that insurance companies listed on the Palestine Stock Exchange can achieve an acceptable balance between the liquidity risk index and the earnings per share in a way that does not prevent them from fulfilling their obligations. The findings of this study are demonstrated using figures and diagrams. The study recommends that insurance companies need to pay extra attention to risks and identify effective policies to deal with risks and reduce their impact, especially capital risk and the rate of risky assets. This is because these factors negatively affect earnings per share. The results of this study will be useful to relevant stakeholders in the sector.

Impact of efficiency indicators and its related aspects on the market return: An applied study on Palestine Stock Exchange
Investment Management and Financial Innovations Volume 18, 2021 Issue #3 pp. 94-103
Views: 659 Downloads: 210 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯThe study deals with the efficiency of the Palestine Stock Exchange (PSE) indicators that explain the market return. The data published in the Palestine Exchange and the Palestinian Monetary Authority during 2010–2018 have been analyzed. The multiple regression method has been employed to determine the correlation between efficiency indicators and market return. However, the findings, on the one hand, determined that there was no statistically significant effect of efficiency indicators measured by the stock turnover rate and the market capital ratio. On the other hand, they demonstrated the impact of market concentration on market return, which shows a widespread weakness in the efficiency indicators. Therefore, PSE does not enjoy the required levels of efficiency even at the weak level. The study explored the absence of liquidity indicators required for market depth, speed of market response, and market concentration. Thus, the stock prices at the PSE become randomly moving, volatile, and unstable. Consequently, the outcomes of the aforementioned findings recommended the necessity to take the essential measures that activate the elements of market efficiency to reflect the available returns according to the scientific method. The paper also recommends that there should be incentives that motivate and encourage institutions to raise their capital and put their securities into the stock exchange to enhance their role in achieving economic development. However, it should be mentioned that the increasing number of companies leads to an increase in investments as it contributes to the expansion of the market.

The role of e-payments in enhancing financial performance: A case study of the Bank of Palestine
Banks and Bank Systems Volume 16, 2021 Issue #4 pp. 114-124
Views: 969 Downloads: 1844 TO CITE АНОТАЦІЯThe purpose of this paper is to explore electronic payments, which are considered one of the most important tools in financial technology. Hence, electronic payments play a great role in enhancing the financial performance of the Bank of Palestine. The study uses three dependent variables such as return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE) and earnings per share (EPS). The study methodology employs a descriptive and analytical approach to investigate the bank’s data during the period of 2010–2019. Hence, the findings show that electronic payment methods have an important impact on the bank’s financial performance, through the return on assets and equity indicators, which helps to reduce costs and thus increase profits. However, there is no statistically significant effect on the earnings per share. What is more, the Bank of Palestine uses a wide variety of electronic payment methods. Thus, the study suggests the necessity to increase the effectiveness of the information security from fraud risks, in addition to activating supervisory and regulatory authorities (such as the Palestinian Monetary Authority), to strengthen the application of electronic payment tools.
