Until 1973 studies of Business Administration and Economics at the University of Münster (Germany), Ph.D. received in 1977, from 1978 to 1983 academic council at the University of Münster. From 1983 to 1995 Professor of Marketing at the private European Business School (ebs) in Oestrich-Winkel (Germany). Since 1995 chair of the Marketing and Business Administration Department at the University of Basel (Switzerland). Since 2005 Honorary Professor at Technical University of Munich (Germany).
Member Editorial Review Board of the Swiss Journal of Business Research and Practice; Scientific Director of the executive MBA "Marketing and Business Administration" at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and the ZMU Marketing Academy GmbH (Germany); Member of various national and international boards and juries as well as an active consultant.
Author of numerous Publications with focus on Integrated Communications, Relationship Marketing, Services Marketing, Quality Management, Brand Management and Nonprofit-Marketing.
